Overview

A "Natural Sweet Wine". Liked by many...Napoleon, King Louis Philippe of France, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Frederick the Great...to name just a very few...! From the original vineyard planted in the Cape by the first settlers. Made from small grain Muscat grapes and wood ageing involved. At first, the bouquet reminded me of a Vidal-made Niagara Peninsula Icewine...! With aromas of quince marmalade, honey, floral and fennel seed. Medium bodied with medium intensity sweetness, hot acids, with even some tannins, which give you a light puckering sensation. It could be a little volatile, I believe, due to some nailpolish remover aroma notes and similar, grey rot, funny flavour nuances on the finish. Even so, this wine is very interesting and special. I like it and perhaps I just over-analyzed it. Can age for a long time.
