Overview

Winemaker and "self-proclaimed black sheep" Stephen Wyse hails from the Wyse family who owns Burrowing Owl. He left his winemaking duties at Burrowing Owl to make wine his partner Michelle Young. They released their first wines, a Shiraz and a Merlot, in late 2009 and plans are in the works for Viognier, Gewürztraminer, Malbec, and Zinfandel. The inaugural Shiraz is deep purple with aromas of ripe plums, sage, earth and leather. Full-bodied  and juicy  it's loaded with flavours of berries, spice, leather, pepper, and earth. Tannins are nicely integrated and the finish spicy, gamey, and a little smoky. The winery is young yet and shows lots of promise judging by the first releases. Enjoy with grilled sausages and lamb chops.
