Should North American governments ease up on policing the producers of local artisan cheeses?

We all know the debate over raw milk and the endless stories of the battle between the artisan producer and the mass-production corporations. What is your opinion on this issue? Should North American governments ease up on policing the producers of local artisan cheeses? Would we be a healthier society if fewer laws were in place in terms of local artisan cheese production? Or would it result in wide-spread disease and mass-hysteria? It isn’t an issue in other parts of the world. Should it be one here? Have your say!
