What do you think of the exploitation of celebrity chefs and related scandals?

What do you think of the exploitation of celebrity chefs and related scandals? Everyday there is a new story being leaked about some celebrity chef getting themselves in trouble - so it would appear. Is it juicy gossip or a nuisance? Are you more interested in their food or their personal lives? Have your say!

I think the issue here is that when chefs become celebrities, they are treated the same way as Hollywood celebrities. Personally, I don't get the whole "celebrity status" given to certain chefs. Most of them are not even that great in comparison to the lesser-known culinary geniuses in restaurants around the world. Television has destroyed the art of cooking in my opinion. We tune in to watch "personalities" holding a knife who have no real background or expertise in cooking. They just have the right look and are funny on camera. What do we learn from this? How to look good in a kitchen? It takes a little more than that I am afraid.

That being said, I think the chefs who have sold their soul to the fame and fortune devil in order to make money and be a star deserve being exploited. If it happens enough, maybe fewer young chefs will aspire to be poorly trained "celebrities" and instead work towards perfecting their art.
