Yes, in fact I learned about it in Vancouver a few years ago at a restaurant called Nu. They had little symbols next to items on the menu and when I asked, the waiter told my husband and I it was a rating system for seafood quality. If they symbol was on the menu, it meant that the supplier used specific fishing techniques to ensure that the environment and the eco-system was not damaged. Personally, I think it is a wonderful idea. In fact, it should be on all menus across Canada.

I have seen this program in Vancouver but not here in Calgary yet. If anyone knows of a restaurant in and around Calgary supporting Oceanwise, please post! I would certainly support them!

I'm not aware of this program, haven't heard of it.I'm sure most sea food lovers in Montreal area have not heard about it, which is a shame.recently there was an article in The Economist about the dwinling of all fish species in the Mediteranean especially tuna.

There is such a huge demand especially from Japan, that if this demand is not controlled by all countries co-operation tuna will be decimated in less than 10 years,as the species are getting smaller and smaller due to the fact that they don't have sufficient time to mature to full size. The sea food industry should be concerned as well as the sea food loving people to start a movement to have governments treat this as a very serious problem that affects us ALL.
