Do you think Ontarians give enough to support food banks and related service groups?

This is Gremolata's Discussion Topic of the Day for August 10, 2009.

According to statistics, Ontario's per capita giving to charitable organizations was behind Alberta, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories..among others. Considering this, we wanted to ask our readers what they think of Ontario’s reputation for giving. Do we support our fellow Ontarians in need? When it comes to problems with hunger and nutrition, do you think we give enough to support the causes out there? Share your thoughts...

I think Ontarians are generous in nature but perhaps the issue is where we give our time and money. We probably give more to hospitals due to the flashy campaigns like the Cash and Cars lotteries they use to raise funds. Have never seen one of this scale for food banks or social services groups, but probably not the market for raising funds.
