25 years ago, Allison Hooper co-founded The Vermont Butter and Cheese Company by turning her passion for the cheeses she had made while living in France into a movement of artisanal American cheese. 6 years ago, Adeline Druart joined the VBCC team from the Jura Region of France bringing fresh ideas steeped in old world traditions to help create our line of aged goat cheeses. Allison and Adeline invite you into “The Cheese Maker’s Kitchen” as they teach you the step-by-stop process of turning goats’ milk into curd, after which they’ll show you some delicious and simple recipes to feature your freshly made cheese! They’ll also throw in some Cheese Board 101 so you can entertain with confidence and style. But that’s not all: the class will end on a sweet note, as dessert is never forgotten at Vermont Butter and Cheese, what with all the Crème Fraiche and Cultured Butter just hanging around…. Finally, once your cheesy creations have been completed, Astor Center’s own resident wine expert will lead you on a guided tasting of some classic cheese-friendly wines.
