Vancouver Farmers' Market Guide 2018

Vancouver is the largest city and the gateway to some of the best in local farm-fresh foods in British Columbia.  To help you get the most of the season, we present some of Vancouver's top spots for fresh farmer-delivered food.


CENTRAL

Granville Island Public Market – Daily, 9am-7pm

If Granville Island is the king of Vancouver destinations, then the Public Market is the jewel in the Island’s crown. A fascinating assortment of colourful stalls, showcasing unique homemade products and the very finest in gastronomic delights will great you here - all fresh from the ocean, the oven or the field.  For any visit to Vancouver, it is a must to experience the freshest and most flavourful items BC has to offer.

Robson Public Market – Daily, 9am-9pm

The Robson Public Market is part farmers market, part full time food bazaar.  It is famous for its fresh salad bar, and is the paramount place to find fresh produce, seafood, meat, bakery and other daily essentials for locals and tourists. Lots of specialty shops plus many restaurants offering delicious ethnic cuisine will surely spark your interests -- explore them all and have fun!

Main Street Station Farmers' Market – Wednesdays, 3pm-7pm               

This market is part of the network of Vancouver Farmers Markets (otherwise known as Your Local Farmers Market Society).  This group operates a series of weekly Farmers Markets in urban settings.  The Society and the Markets have become Vancouver plazas of fun, discovery, and connecting. This market is located at the 1100 Block Station Street along Thornton Park across from the VIA Rail Station and near the Main St Skytrain Station.  Expect lots of great local produce and artisan products from the Lower Mainland and live entertainment every week.

UBC Farm Market – Saturdays, 9am-1pm             

The University of British Columbia Farm is a 24-hectare teaching, research, and community farm located on the University of British Columbia's Vancouver campus. As the only working farmland within the city of Vancouver, the UBC Farm is an urban agrarian gem. They host a farm market on site every Saturday, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm from June through October. They are a small but growing market with enthusiastic customers and dedicated vendors – and the trip from farm to table here is about as short as one can get.

West End Farmers' Market – Saturdays, 9am-2pm          

This market is part of the network of Vancouver Farmers Markets (otherwise known as Your Local Farmers Market Society).  This group operates a series of weekly Farmers Markets in urban settings.  The Society and the Markets have become Vancouver plazas of fun, discovery, and connecting. This market is located at the North Parking Lot of John Hendry Park at 1100 Block of Comox Street across from Nelson Park at Mole Hill.  Expect lots of great local produce and artisan products from the Lower Mainland and live entertainment every week.

Kitsilano Farmers Market – Sundays, 10am-2pm              

This market is part of the network of Vancouver Farmers Markets (otherwise known as Your Local Farmers Market Society).  This group operates a series of weekly Farmers Markets in urban settings.  The Society and the Markets have become Vancouver plazas of fun, discovery, and connecting. This market is located at 2690 Larch Street at 10th Avenue, Parking Lot of Kitsilano Community Centre.  Expect lots of great local produce and artisan products from the Lower Mainland and live entertainment every week.


SUBURBAN

Surrey Urban Farmers' Market - Wednesdays, 1pm-6pm

In a prime location, within walking distance of 17,000 workers, 20,000 residents, 5,000 students and loads of commuters throughout the lower mainland. Join us for farm fresh produce, artisan products, locally produced foods and international delicacies. This market is a busy place and full of friendly Vancouver foodies! This market takes place at the North Surrey Recreation Centre Courtyard.


Port Coquitlam Farmers' Market – Thursdays, 3pm-7pm              

A busy and colourful downtown Market with fresh produce picked that morning, fruits when in season, seafood, sausage, pickles, jams, jellies, conserves, eggs, fresh baked bread and cookies, fair trade coffee, fine art, woodworking and so much more.  A children's craft village and lively entertainment will encourage you to stay and relax awhile.

Abbotsford Farm and Country Market – Saturdays, 9am-1pm

This market is located in the nearby city of Abbotsford - just outside Vancouver. The Market is an upbeat, friendly social gathering place. Customers can enjoy a snack from the United Church concession and/or some of our vendors, visit and just relax. The weekly summer outdoor season begins May 8th and will run for 23 weeks until Thanksgiving weekend in October.  Come for the freshness, stay for the fun!

Burnaby Farmers' Market – Saturdays, 9am-1pm             

Burnaby Farmers' Market has a large variety of farmers selling organic and non-organic produce, fruits, berries, plants, fish and meats as well as prepared food vendors selling breads, honey, jams, sauces, pickles, pastas, pita bread, dips, salsas, ethnic foods, baking & pet treats.

Trout Lake Farmers' Market – Saturdays, 9am-2pm        

This market is part of the network  of Vancouver Farmers Markets (otherwise known as Your Local Farmers Market Society).  This group operates a series of weekly Farmers Markets in urban settings.  The Society and the Markets have become Vancouver plazas of fun, discovery, and connecting. This market is located at the North Parking Lot of John Hendry Park at Trout Lake between Templeton and Lakewood south of the 13th Avenue Alley. Expect lots of great local produce and artisan products from the Lower Mainland and live entertainment every week.

Lonsdale Quay Farmers' Market – Saturdays, 10am-3pm

Located across the water from Downtown Vancouver, Lonsdale Quay Farmers Market is in a wonderful location right by the water, shaded by trees on the East Plaza at Lonsdale Quay Market & Shops. Here, you will find a selection of Organic and Conventional produce, fruits and berries.  Prepared food vendors sell baking, jams, honey, preserves, salsas, sauces, pickles, pastas to name a few.   Crafters are also on site offering jewelry, pottery, photography, clothing, soaps, botanical prints, herbal skincare and much more.

Coquitlam Farmers Market – Sundays, 9am-1pm             

The Coquitlam Farmers began in 1997 as a small summer market with a few vendors, and has grown to boast a weekly Sunday market from Mother's Day to Halloween; and a twice a month Winter market from November to March.  The success of the Coquitlam Farmers Market derives largely from its focus on celebrating what is "made, baked, grown, & raised" in British Columbia.  Vendors include farm producers from the Okanagan, Fraser Valley, and Denman Island, to bakers and crafters who are local to the Lower Mainland.

Ambleside Farmers' Market – Sundays, 10am-3pm        

Ambleside Farmer's Market started in June of 2005 in this great location adjacent to the entrance to Ambleside Park and Beach. The market is home to a great variety of organic and conventional farmers at this location. They also have a good selection of prepared foods including baking, syrups, jams, jellies, honey, salsas, anti pastas and much more.

Ladner Village Market – Sundays, 10am-4pm    

Located in historic Ladner Village, 2018 marks the 14th year of operation of the Ladner Village Market. This three block long open-air market runs rain or shine and has over 140 vendors from all over the southern province. As the vendors vary each Sunday the market is never the same twice!

Steveston Farmers' and Artisans' Market – Sundays, 10am-4pm              

This market is a project of the Steveston Community Society and Richmond Agricultural & Industrial Society. It is a destination for residents of suburban Richmond to access local veggies, fruits, meats, cheeses and other artisan specialties from BC's Lower Mainland. It takes place every week in the heart of Steveston Village.
